Cooley Adds Partner to M&A Practice

Palo Alto, Calif. – April 2, 2009 - Cooley Godward Kronish LLP announced today that Kristen Kercher has joined the Firm as a partner in the Mergers and Acquisitions group.   She was previously a partner at Heller Ehrman, where she worked closely with the partners who joined Cooley from Heller in October of last year.

Ms. Kercher's practice focuses on the representation of publicly traded and privately held companies in both domestic and cross-border M&A and other strategic and corporate partnering transactions. Ms. Kercher earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

"We are pleased to welcome Kristen to Cooley," said Richard Climan, head of Cooley's firmwide mergers and acquisitions practice. "Our M&A practice remains exceptionally busy despite the challenging economy, so her arrival is very timely."

Cooley has advised on several high-profile M&A transactions over the last several months, including Brocade's $2.5 billion acquisition of Foundry Networks and Gilead's pending $1.4 billion acquisition of CV Therapeutics.   In 2008, the Firm's M&A practice ranked 20th nationally in number of completed U.S. deals (Thomson Reuters).
