Antonio Calabrese, Partner

Antonio Calabrese is a partner in the Real Estate practice group and a member of the Cooley Business department. Resident in the Reston office, Mr. Calabrese's practice focuses on land use/zoning and complex real estate and commercial leasing matters; he has forged a reputation for handling high-profile and complicated land use cases in Northern Virginia. Mr. Calabrese has been recognized as one of the region's preeminent land use/zoning attorneys by The Washington Post ("The Washington DC Area's Best Lawyers"), The Washington Business Journal ("Top Washington Lawyers"), Washingtonian ("Best of Washington"), The Virginia Business Journal ("Legal Elite - Virginia's Best Lawyers"), Richmond Magazine ("Virginia Super Lawyers"), The Best Lawyers in America, Legal Times ("Leading Lawyer") and Chambers USA (Lawyer Rankings). • Belmont Executive Center - 1.5 million sq ft office, hotel, restaurant and retail complex located at Lansdowne Boulevard and Route 7
• Broadlands & Broadlands South Community - 1,600 acres, 3,500 homes, and 3.8 million sq ft of commercial and retail development located along the Dulles Greenway
• Capital One Financial Corporation - a 1.1 million sq ft, four-building campus for Capital One's Tysons Corners headquarters
• Hospital Corporation of America - zoning request for a medical campus (over 1 million sq ft, including a 180-bed hospital and three 200,000 sq ft office buildings) proposed in Loudoun County, Virginia
• Loudoun Valley Estates -  rezoning of an 860 acre, 2,700+ unit planned community located along Loudoun County Parkway, Dulles, Virginia
• One Loudoun - A pending 360 acre, 3.7+ million sq ft mixed-use, community employment center, including 2.8 million sq ft of office, 600,000 sq ft of retail, luxury hotel, movie theater, restaurants and residents. One Loudoun is the recipient of a coveted Washington Smart Growth Alliance ("WSGA") award, and has the distinction of being the first such recognized project in Loudoun County
• Reston Town Center -  rezoning, development plan, and special exception approvals within the 450-acre, 7+ million sq ft, mixed-use Town Center, including:
  • Accenture & Titan - 800,000 sq ft build-to-suit towers
  • Microsoft & Siebel - Discovery Square campus on Sunset Hills Road
  • Nextel - 350,000 sq ft Nextel headquarters, developed by CarrAmerica
  • Oracle - 24-acre, 750,000 sq ft, east coast headquarters
  • Spectrum at Town Center - 270,000 sq ft retail center
  • Stratford - 350 high\mid-rise luxury condominiums
  • Trammell Crow Residential - 700+ high-end condominiums/apartments
  • TRW & NobleStar - 450,000 sq ft, build-to-suit tower and joint campus
• Tysons Corner Center - overseeing a proposed 3+ million sq ft mixed-use, multi-phased expansion of office towers, high density residential, additional retailers and a boutique hotel

Mr. Calabrese served as the 2004 Chairman of the Northern Virginia chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and was selected as the Member of the Year in 2000.

Mr. Calabrese received a J.D. from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law in 1986, where he served as Managing Editor of the University of Richmond Law Review.  He received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 1983.
