John Toole is a partner in the Real Estate practice group and a member of the Cooley Business department. He joined the Firm in 2000 and is a resident in the Reston office.
Mr. Toole's practice primarily consists of representing institutional owners, developers, investors and users of various types of commercial real estate, nationally and internationally. He has extensive experience assisting developers and owners of office, industrial, retail and mixed use projects in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and construction, term and mezzanine financing. He advises corporate users of real estate in headquarters and ancillary facilities acquisitions, leasing and sale/leaseback transactions. As part of his real estate practice, Mr. Toole has developed a specialty advising developers and users of state-of-the-art data center facilities.
Mr. Toole has been active in the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties as a member of its National Board of Directors (2002 to 2008), and as a Board member and General Counsel of its Virginia Chapter (1986 to 2008).
Mr. Toole received a J.D. from the Washington College of Law, American University, and a B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia.
Mr. Toole is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar and District of Columbia Bar Association. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He lectures frequently and has published articles on a variety of real estate subjects.
