Patrick Loofbourrow is a partner in the Emerging Companies and Public Companies practice groups and a member of the Cooley Business department. He is resident in the Shanghai office and has been with the Firm since October 1999.
Mr. Loofbourrow's practice focuses on the representation of high-growth emerging technology and life sciences companies as well as venture capital and other firms that invest in those companies. As a specialist in corporate and securities law, he has counseled company clients and investors in a wide variety of projects, including company formations, spin-offs, private and public financings, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and other strategic transactions, employee equity incentives, corporate governance matters and SEC reporting and compliance. Mr. Loofbourrow counsels companies in a variety of industries, including the wireless, hardware, Internet, software, telecommunications and biotechnology, healthcare and medical device industries.
Mr. Loofbourrow received his J.D., summa cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1999, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Lead Editor of the San Diego Law Review. He completed joint bachelor's degrees in International Relations and Anthropology, with an emphasis in Latin America, at Stanford University in 1988. Mr. Loofbourrow is bilingual in Spanish and English and has lived in Ecuador.
Mr. Loofbourrow is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association.
