Thea M. Chester is an associate in the Cooley LLP Business department. She is resident in the San Francisco office and joined the Firm in 1990. Ms. Chester is a member of the Compensation and Benefits Group, and practices primarily in the areas of qualified plans and welfare benefits, with an emphasis in 401(k) plans.
She is admitted to practice in California and Oregon and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Western Pension and Benefits Conference and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
She received a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, in 1984. She graduated cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif and is a member of the Thurston Society. She received a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Chester was a tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service and a management analyst with the U.S. General Accounting Office (now the U.S. Government Accountability Office).
